Some reasons why people struggle with low self esteem is due to not fitting in at school, having difficulties meeting parent and teacher expectations, and having past experiences with bullying. Having a low self esteem can affect relationships with others. As well, as tend to feel less sure of their abilities and may doubt the decision making process.
In order to improve self esteem it is important to challenge negative thoughts, apply positive self talk and have self compassion.
Our goal this school year is to help students increase their self esteem by building connections through playing games, creating vision boards, and providing students with a mental health journal and snacks.
